July Meeting

Omar has stepped up to the plate for presenting in July. The meeting topic will be about Upstart, the Ubuntu System V Init replacement. He's written some Upstart scripts, and his knowledge will be worth tapping into during this meet.

After his discussion on Upstart, we'll be having a "hack night", where we'll get to work hands-on with Upstart, so we can more effectively administer our machines.

This will be a great meeting, and all who can should attend. Upstart is poorly documented, and we as a team could be positioned to be the leader in this regard.

One month in my Linux life, and all is well...

Today the sixth marks my 1 month point. of the five time (I counted recently) I've tried to convert to Linux. This marks the point where I've been able to stay with it longer then all the other attempts combined, and remain happy with my decision. Despite some attempts made to discourage me from with in the Linux community.

I've had my issues here and there, but nothing catastrophically major as to make me blow out Linux and reinstall windows.

Still... I'm working on learning how to use my computer under Linux to it most valuable.

Feeble as a Kitten, and Mr. Stallman...

So it's been a few weeks since I've installed Ubuntu Studio to my rig, Made myself many Blender 3D models, GIMPed up a lot of textures and Effects for said 3D models, and even killed stress with a session or two of Prey, Counterstrike source, and Half-Life 2: Episode 2.

I've gotten my girlfriend almost totally acclimated to Linux and it's benefits. I've even fixed a "User Error" that almost cost me twenty minutes of re installation time. And all with out ever being tempted to reinstall Windows XP back onto my rig.

This part of my Linux life, I call "Feeble as a Kitten"

My very first meeting calls for my first ever blog.

Those on the IRC Server Freenode may notice hat my spelling is a bit, how to say it? OK I'll admit it. I'm dyslexically lazy. I say "On the 8th day God said, Let there be spelling checkers." and for that I'm grateful.

So if you notice that here, Please be kind but let me know do I can.

Alright then. On with my very first ever blog...

I've really been looking forward to this meeting for a couple of weeks. for two reasons really:
